Dan Evans v Kyle Edmund Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two players at the highest level and Edmund has won them both. These matches came at the Monte Carlo Masters on 2017 and Eastbourne International of 2019.

They have also faced off in other matches, like a Challenger encounter and a few matches in the Battle of the Brits competition.

Evans Returns after Shock Wimbledon Loss

Having won the Nottingham Challenger title in the lead-up to Wimbledon, one would have expected Evans to do a lot better during the grass swing than what he eventually managed.

Unfortunately for Evans, his performances there were in line for how the rest of the season has gone for him, with his three tournament appearances leading to just one victory and three defeats. Evans was knocked out in the first round at both, Queen’s Club competition and Wimbledon, while defeating Adrian Mannarino in Eastbourne.

The rest of the season has been no better for Evans.

On hard courts, especially, Evans had kick-started things off with a five-match winning streak but since then things have deteriorated badly. He has won just three of the next nine matches and while he is up against a player who’s been out of action for a bit, things might not be that easy for Evans.

Edmund Wins Maiden Main Draw Match

Having been out of action because of injury, Edmund made a comeback to singles play earlier last month on the Challenger. And in what was his first match at the highest level, Edmund showed what he is capable of when fully fit.

Having gone in at 5/4 odds in his opener, Edmund carved out a straight-set win over Yosuke Watanuki to clinch his place in the second round.

Edmund was pushed a little in his two hour, two minute encounter but came through 6-4, 7-6 (8) to move forward, having been broken just once in the entire match. He did have to save a set-point in the second set tie-breaker too but came through in the end.

Can he push his more illustrious countryman now?

Evans v Edmund Prediction and Tip

This could turn out to be an interesting one with Evans holding a slight edge here. A three-set win for Evans looks likely.

Tip: Evans to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
