Aryna Sabalenka v Caroline Dolehide Head to Head

There have been no previous meetings between Sabalenka and Dolehide before this.

Sabalenka Hoping to Turn Poor Hard Court Season Around

Overall, Sabalenka has a 19-14 win-loss record for the season which, for a player who was ranked second in the world not so long ago, can hardly be described as an excellent one.

To go with that, Sabalenka has won just six of the 13 hard court matches she has played this year, a surface on which she has won nine of her 10 career titles. This might not sit down too well with the Belarusian who had had to miss Wimbledon because of their ban on players from her country.

What that means is Sabalenka enters the US Open Swing on the back of successive defeats on grass – including in the first round in Berlin – and no competitive tennis since mid-June.

The good news for Sabalenka is her opponent has never seen the inside of the top 100 on the WTA Rankings and is currently languishing at 168th in the world – an indicator of her recent struggles.

Expecting Sabalenka to shrug off her rustiness, if any for this opener.

Lucky Loser Dolehide Ends Day

Dolehide has been more found to be playing on the ITF circuit these days and that can exemplified by the fact she has won just one main draw match at the highest level all season.

That came about at the Guadalajara Open earlier this year, but other than that, Dolehide had fallen in either the qualifiers itself or in opening rounds of competitions.

Till she reached San Jose that is. Here, Dolehide has managed to get past Kayla Day, an American qualifier 7-6 (5), 6-4 to finally double her main draw win tally.

Dolehide, who had earlier been knocked out of the qualifiers by Storm Sanders but still managed to make it through as a lucky loser, will find Sabalenka a bit too hot to handle.

Sabalenka v Dolehide Prediction and Tip

Sabalenka might be slightly rusty but should have no issues running past Dolehide here. Straight sets too.

Tip: Sabalenka to win in straight sets: 3/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
