Nick Kyrgios v Yoshihito Nishioka

Nick Kyrgios did not play the greatest of matches against Mikael Ymer but the Australian did just enough to advance to the final. Kyrgios served really well and that was the key to winning because on return he was unable to create much pressure. The only break he had was a game in which Ymer committed far too many mistakes.

The Australian struggled with his won returning sailing a lot of balls wide. He’ll need to do much better in the final against a player that is playing the best tennis of his life.

Nobody expected Nishioka to be in the final but the Japanese player spent the first few months of the year in America practising on courts like these.

It proved like a smart decision because he is in the final of an ATP 500 event and that boost in points will certainly do him well moving forward in this year. Stylistically, this is a matchup where Kyrgios should have the upper hand. Nishioka can give him trouble if he adopts a similar style to Ymer and I suspect he will.

The match will be on Nick’s racquet though. His best should win this match easily and his medium should also be able to win. I would be quite shocked if Nishioka pulled this off but I do think he’ll keep it close.

Tip: Nick Kyrgios to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Daria Kasatkina v Shelby Rogers

Daria Kasatkina is in another final as the Russian played a wonderful match to down Paula Badosa fairly easily. I was quite surprised how easy it was but she did play a superb match. Kasatkina is a player that will track down every ball and hit quite a few winners from positions you would not think it’s possible.

Her serve has been wonky at times with many double faults so she will certainly give Rogers some chances. The American will play her first final in six years and it comes after a superb run. Rogers should be favoured here due to her playstyle which is hard to counter when it’s working.

It’s working really well this week and her level is generally quite a bit higher when playing on home soil. I expect a strong showing from her but I don’t think Kasatkina will give up that easily. This is a proper toss-up between them because both can win.

I’ll back Rogers to do simply because her game is a better fit on hard courts and because she’s at home. Don’t be surprised if the Russian wins though.

Tip: Rogers to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Liudmila Samsonova v Kaia Kanepi

Both of these players had a superb week in Washington to get into the final. Not only did they outlast incredibly tricky conditions they played a hugely impressive brand of tennis. Both like to attack and both do it well. Kanepi won her semifinal match 6-3 6-1 while Samsonova won 6-1 6-1.

It doesn’t get much more dominating than that and that’s the reason why this final will be very hard to predict. Both can win, genuinely and it will largely come down to who executes her game plan better. There won’t be much variety here although Samsonova has more of that in her arsenal.

Kanepi will hit the ball hard and if she gets into a great rhythm it will be game over. The 37-year-old is set to become a top 30 player on Monday which is incredible considering the circumstances. It’s only a testament to how well she’s played this year.

If she keeps hitting the ball as cleanly as she did, I think she’ll get it done. There is the experience factor as well so I’ll back Kanepi.

Tip: Kanepi to win: 1/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
