Veronika Kudermetova v Shelby Rogers Head to Head
Overall, they have faced each other thrice and Rogers leads 2-1 on head to head.
The third of those meetings came last week in San Jose, where they faced off in the semifinals. An in-form Rogers made a mincemeat of Kudermetova, winning 6-3, 6-4 to reach the title-decider.

Despite her straight-set loss at the hands of Rogers in the semifinal at the Washington Open, Kudermetova will know she has some good run going this year. Especially in hard court competitions.
Of the 23 matches she has played this year on this surface, Kudermetova has won 16. In three of the tournaments she has been a part of, the Russian reached the semifinal including the Washington Open and while she went down to Rogers in that match, the other two had seen her enter the title-decider.
Kudermetova will, however, know she has been dealt a difficult draw here.
A first round match against a player who will enter this competition as a definite top 30 player – and possibly even a top 25 one – when the new rankings are updated on Monday, is as challenging as it can get for the world number 19.

Rogers Inconsistent But Showing Sparkle in Washington
At the time of writing, Rogers is a match away from making it her first career WTA title as she takes on Daria Kasatkina in the final of the Washington Open. This, after she had defeated Kudermetova in the semifinals of that event.
Rogers will hope she can continue with the kind of form that was on display in that tournament, with all her first four wins coming in straight sets.
And it wasn’t just the fact she won that easily, it was also the quality of opponents that need to be looked at.
The American sent Bianca Andreescu, Maria Sakkari and Amanda Anisimova packing in her first three rounds before the defeat of Kudermetova. And win or lose on Sunday, she will know she has the wood over Kudermetova coming into this one.
Kudermetova v Rogers Prediction and Tip
Given the nature of the win for Rogers in their last meeting, it’s difficult to see how Kudermetova can turn things around at this one. Exhaustion is the only possible reason for that but even then, Rogers seems to be in too good a form to lose.
