Nick Kyrgios v Sebastian Baez Head to Head

These two had faced off once before this and that had come in the first round of the 2022 Indian Wells Masters.

Kyrgios was a 6-4, 6-0 winner over Baez in that match.

Kyrgios Playing Some of His Best Tennis

Kyrgios has admitted he has had to overcome some real obstacles to reach where he has this year, following a torrid time last season. And he wasn’t just referring to his on-court struggles but off it as well.

The good news for the Aussie is that things have turned around for the good and he will be hoping to continue in the same vein.

Coming into this competition, Kyrgios has already made it to the final at Wimbledon where he fell to Novak Djokovic before winning his first title in three titles as the Aussie crushed Yoshihito Nishioka in the title-deciding round.

Overall, Kyrgios is 27-7 this season with his showing on hard court surfaces reading a solid 13-3.

Can he kick things with a win over an opponent ranked higher than him but more a clay-courter?

Baez 2-7 on Hard Courts This Season

To say that Baez struggles in hard court competitions is stating the obvious. He has featured in seven hard court tournaments before this and won just two matches across those.

What’s made it worse for Baez is that since making it to the final in Bastad in July, he has won nothing on any surface.

He lost that final and followed it up with opening round losses in clay court competitions, Hamburg and Umag, and then again on the hard courts of Washington.

Earlier this year, his only wins on hard court came against Christopher O’Connell in Sydney and Albert Ramos-Vinolas at the Australian Open.

And Baez now takes on one of the best players in current times first up. Expecting an old-fashioned whopping here.

Kyrgios v Baez Prediction and Tip

Kyrgios might be feeling exhausted but he should have no issues getting past Baez in straight sets.
