Karatsev Has Lost His Last Three Matches

2021 was a break-out year for Karatsev – he was an Australian Open semi-finalist,  reached three finals, winning two of them, and also took home a silver medal in the Mixed Doubles from the Tokyo Olympics.,

When he won the Sydney International in January, it seemed like he was set to continue that vein of form into the New Year.

Things have not panned out since then, though, as he might have hoped, and, for months, he struggled for results.

Back-to-back quarter finals in Bastad and Hamburg helped arrest the downward trend, but he has lost his last three matches, suffering first round defeats in Kitzbuhel, Washington, and Montreal.

Can Nakashima Improve His Masters’ Record?

Nakashima has so far struggled to replicate the same summer form that he showed last year, when he reached successive finals in Los Cabos and Atlanta, although he finished on the losing side each time.

He did, though, reach the fourth round of Wimbledon, his best showing in a Grand Slam event to date.

The American has a poor record in Masters tournaments, having never been further than the second round of any of them.

His only previous visit to Cincinnati ended in the first round, and he was knocked out of the Canadian Open last week at the same stage, beaten in straight sets by Cameron Norrie.

Karatsev v Nakashima Prediction and Tip

Both men have been struggling for form recently, so  a win in this match would be most welcome and a boost to confidence. Karatsev’s higher ranking makes him the favourite, but it could be close.
