There have been two previous meeting with Garcia having won both. In fact, Brady is yet to win a set, having lost a match on clay in 2017 at Strasbourg and then gone down to her opponent in the round of 64 at the Indian Wells Masters last year.
Caroline Garcia to Look at Australian Open Showing
With a third round at the Australian Open under her belt, the Frenchwoman would be reasonably satisfied with her workout given her loss came at the hands of the rising star and in-form Danille Collins. That was also after Garcia was knocked out in round one of both, Shenzhen Open and Hobart International earlier in the year.
While her form has been a tad dodgy, the world number 19 did show she has the game against, at least the lower-ranked players to win matches easily. And with the early form woes looking like they are behind her, Garcia will go into this match as a heavy favourite.
Qualifier Brady Hopes to Make Noise
This is going to be Brady’s first main draw of the year after having fallen in the qualifiers at both, Brisbane and Australian Open. In fact, she won her first two qualifying rounds at the Australian Open before falling in the third to Beatriz Maia.
Brady also last won a main draw match at Guangzhou, just after last year’s US Open before an injury prevented her from taking part in her second round match. Interestingly, she had shown what she can do on a good day as she swept Alize Cornet in that opener in that competition.
