Botic van de Zandschulp v Jaume Munar Head to Head

World No. 23 Botic Van de Zandschulp advanced to the third round after edging out fellow countryman Tallon Griekspoor in the second round on Tuesday.

The second seed, who received a first round bye, won 86% points on his first serve, struck 27 winners and converted both the break points that he held to win the one hour and 47 minute contest 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.

Making his Winston-Salem debut this year, the dutch improved his season record to 29-21. Van de Zandschulp had reached his maiden ATP final in Munich this year, but had to withdraw with an injury after just seven games in the match. He was also a semifinalist in Queen’s and a quarterfinalist in Melbourne and Marakech.

He has won one and lost one match in his last three tournaments during the North American swing. Can he reach the quarterfinals in this tournament?

Munar Eases Past Tseng

No. 15 seed Jaume Munar needed an hour and 30 minutes to dispatch Taipei’s Chun-Hsin Tseng.

The Spaniard saved 4 of 4 break points that he faced and converted half of the four that he faced to beat Tseng 6-3, 6-4.

Ranked no. 57, Munar is 16-17 this year. The 25-year-old, who is at his best on clay courts, won two Challenger titles this season, both on his preferred surface.

He also reached the quarterfinals in Melbourne and Gstaad and will be hoping to make his third quarterfinal of the season on Wednesday.

His previous best in Winston-Salem was a Round of 16 finish in 2018, since then he has not gone past the first round. But having reached the third round this year, he will aim to go higher.
