Tatjana Maria v Diane Parry Head to Head

Maria won 6-3, 6-2 in a mere hour and 17 minutes to march through, making it her first set of successive wins on hard court surface for the season.
A title-winner on the clay courts of Bogota earlier this year, the 35-year-old Maria is enjoying a good second wind to her career and would love to register another sizzling win here.

Parry Surprises Martincova
Tereza Martincova had gone into her second round match against Parry as a 2/5 favourite to win it but it was her opponent who came through without any worries.
Parry won 6-3, 7-6 (1) to also register her first set of back to back victories in hard court competitions, having earlier not even made it past the first round at any this season.
In fact, in the eight hard court competitions Parry had played before this, she had featured in the first round just twice and crashed out of the qualifiers on six other occasions.
Interestingly, Parry, who is a few ranking spots ahead of Maria currently, starts off a favourite here and that could be down to the age being on her side. However, the point to be noted here is that Parry hasn’t played a lot of tennis in hard court competitions and that could tilt it in her opponent’s favour.
