Alize Cornet v Zhang Shuai Head to Head
It’s a rivalry that dates back to 2008 and they have met seven times before with Cornet leading 4-3.
Zhang won their most recent meeting at the French Open two years ago.

World No. 37 Alize Cornet reached a third quarterfinal of the season as she defeated Denmark’s Clara Tauson in straight sets on Wednesday.
The Frenchwoman, who got the solitary break in the first set, saved three set points at 4-5 in the second set. She went on to dominate the tiebreak and sealed the contest 6-3, 7-6 (7-1).
Cornet won 86% points on the back of her first serve and converted half of the four break points she held. Her opponent had 6 opportunities to break her serve, but Cornet saved five of them.
The 32-year-old had started her Clevelnad challenge with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 win over Dayana Yastremska in the first round.
Thanks to the two wins she is now 19-19 across levels this year. She had featured in her maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal at the Australian Open and was also a semifinalist in Bad Homburg. On Thursday, the six-time WTA winner will be looking to reach a second semifinal of the season.

Zhang Gets an Easy Pass to Last Eight
World No. 35 Zhang Shuai got an easy pass into the quarterfinals after her second round opponent, the second seed Martina Trevisan withdrew from the contest even before the start of the match.
As a result the Chinese player is now in her fifth quarterfinal of the season and a second in a row after making it to the last eight in Cincinnati last week.
The 33-year-old had begun her Cleveland campaign with a 6-2, 6-1 drubbing of Katerina Siniakova. She was broken in the very first game of the match, but didn’t put a foot wrong thereafter, as she converted 5 of 5 break points to beat the Czech in an hour.
Zhang has featured in two finals this year, winning the title in Lyon and finishing runner-up in Birmingham after she was forced to retire from the final.
