Botic van de Zandschulp v Adrian Mannarino Head to Head

They played once before and it happened this year in Melbourne. Botin won 6-4 6-3.

Botic Looking for Final

Botic van de Zandschulp played a final earlier this year in Munich but he had to retire due to breathing issues being escorted by an ambulance. He returned a few days later in good form in Madrid and now he has a chance to book another final.

The Dutch player made his big break last year at the US Open reaching the quarter-final so this run here is not surprising. All these courts play similarly and his serve and forehand combo has worked really well this week. His draw was fairly favourable as he didn’t face a really strong player all week long.

Still he won all the sets which is pretty tough to do on such courts. Even in tiebreaks, Botic was superb and it’s just a week where everything is working. It’s a great year overall for him with a 32-21 score and 13-9 record on hard courts.

He plays aggressively and attacks with a capable return. The serve is good enough and a win in Winston-Salem could push him into the top 20 which would be amazing for him and Dutch tennis. There will be no shortage of motivation for him.

Mannarino’s Improved Play

Adrian Mannarino is always a tricky player to beat, especially on fast courts. His best results have always come on grass and it’s not by chance. The lefty serve can be vry tricky to handle on surfaces where the ball slides and his precise groundstrokes are strong enough to push the opponent out of a rally.

It clicked for him in Winston-Salem after a couple of rough draws in the past few weeks. The Frenchman did not drop a single set this week beating several tricky players. Emil Ruusuvuori, Albert Ramos and Maxime Cressy could not deal with him and Botic is looking at a proper puzzle here.

It’s been a pretty solid year for Adrian with a 26-25 record but he’s 16-12 on hard courts. The Frenchman will be excited about the prospect of reaching a final and he will certainly try.

van de Zandschulp v Mannarino Prediction and Tip

This is a very interesting matchup between two players who have probably shown the strongest tennis this week in Winston-Salem. Both of them will want this final desperately and I expect a close match with a realistic chance of going to three.

I do think Botic has a small advantage because his serve is more powerful and should give him a lot more free points. That was the difference in their Melbourne clash earlier this year and it might be so again. Take the Dutch player to win but you can combine that with an over if you want better odds.

Tip: van de Zandschulp to win match: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
