Karolina Pliskova v Magda Linette Head to Head
The two players have quite a bit of rivalry going on, with Pliskova leading by 6-1. Their last meeting, however, took place in the 2017 WTA Tokyo.

2022 has not been a kind year for Karolina Pliskova, current World No. 22 and former No. 1. A hand injury kept her out of commission for the first three months of the season post which, her form hasn’t quite been the same.
She arrived in New York with a record of 15-14 – dotted with a litany of early-round exits.
In fact, there have been only three tournaments this season where Pliskova has managed to win more than one main draw match. Notably, she was the semifinalist in Strasbourg and Toronto and a quarterfinalist in the Bett1Open.
In these events, she beat several prominent stars like Bianca Andreescu, Kaia Kanepi, Barbora Krejcikova, Amanda Anisimova, and Maria Sakkari.
Karolina last played in the Cincinnati Open, where she lost to Elise Mertens.

Linette, the Clear Underdog
Statistically, Poland’s Magda Linette has had a far better year than Pliskova, with a tally of 28-22.
However, given her lack of pedigree against the elites on the tour, it may be hard for her to topple her Czech adversary.
Looking at her recent form, Linette has been successful mainly in low-tier events. In Prague 250, she was a quarterfinalist, followed by a title run in an ITF $100k event in Poland.
Post that, however, the 30-year-old lost in the qualifiers in Cincinnati to Tereza Martincova – but did follow it with another elite-eight feat in Cleveland (loss to Liudmila Samsonova).
Pliskova v Linette Prediction and Tip
Ordinarily, we would have pegged Pliskova as the heavy favourite to win this one 2-0. But given her recent form woes, Linette is well-suited to put up a fight and give her rival a run for her money. In fact, backing Linette to cause the upset may not be the worst bet to make either.
