Cameron Norrie v Andrey Rublev

Cameron Norrie will take on Andrey Rublev for a place in the quarterfinal with the H2H being 1-1. Rublev won their first match in 2020 but since then Norrie became much better and he actually beat the Russian last year in San Diego.

It was a comeback win because Rublev was cruising in that match before falling apart in the next two sets. The Russian was committing far too many mistakes in that match and it’s something that has plagued in the past couple of weeks as well.

His match against Shapovalov should give Norrie a blueprint of how to attack him but the issue is that Norrie is not that aggressive. He will try to bait Rublev into longer rallies as the Russian doesn’t like that. It’s a fairly tricky one to call but Rublev has struggled more.

Norrie is the favourite and I think he’ll get it done but it won’t be in straight sets.

Tip: Norrie to win AND Both players to win a set: 13/8 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Rafael Nadal v Frances Tiafoe

Frances Tiafoe said that he believes he can defeat Rafael Nadal and while that seems unlikely the American will fight for it. He usually comes up big when playing in front of an engaged crowd and what crowd is better engaged than the New York one.

Them backing Tiafoe is a given but even if they won’t he’ll still enjoy it. They played two times before and both times Nadal proved the better player with the most recent one being in 2019. Things are quite different now and Tiafoe is both better and more serious than before.

He is playing solid tennis but most importantly, he can stay in the longer rallies with Nadal. If he can tire out the Spaniard he will have a decent chance as Nadal won’t like to spend too much time on the courts. It’s a tricky matchup for the Spaniard as he will need to be really aggressive and precise.

Tiafoe is quick around the court and he’ll be on most balls. If he serves well it could be even more trouble. I certainly think the American will win a set but I’m unsure whether he can go all the way.

Tip: Nadal to win AND Both players to win a set: 7/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Carlos Alcaraz v Marin Cilic

Carlos Alcaraz hopes to win the US Open and he’ll face a player that has done in the past. Cilic was a champion here quite a while ago but he’s playing super solid tennis at the moment. Being streaky is a plus for him but could be a negative if he has a bad day.

They played twice in the past and Alcaraz won two matches while Cilic won one. Two of those matches happened this year and one was recently in Cincinnati with Alcaraz winning easily. Both of them are looking better here than in Cincinnati and I think it will be a very competitive match.

Alcaraz is a huge favourite but the familiarity of Cilic with the US Open should help him get at last one set. The opening set in Cincinnati finished in a close tiebreak so the Croatian certainly can stay with Alcaraz.

I think he wins a set but whether he does anything more is up to debate.

Tip: Cilic to win a set – Yes: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
