Ons Jabeur v Ajla Tomljanovic Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and Jabeur has won both – one on the ITF circuit and the other earlier this year at the Rome Open. Both matches came on clay.

She had struggled to get going in the three US Open Series tournaments she participated in and coming into the US Open, Jabeur had a few question-marks over the mental side of things following that Wimbledon final defeat to Elena Rybakina.

Following a couple of straightforward opponents, the Tunisian turned the screws on Shelby Rogers after losing the first set in the third round. And following that, she overcame a fighting Veronika Kudermetova 7-6 (1), 6-4 to make it to the last eight.

Tomljanovic Shows Serena Win No Fluke
We had speculated Tomljanovic’s performance could take a hit now that the pressure from that Serena Williams match was take off. Nothing of that sort happened as Tomljanovic carved out a straight-set win over Liudmilla Samsonova in the fourth round of the tournament.
Tomljanovic did spend two hours on court for her victory and saved eight set-points in the opening set before converting her third to go one up.
It was this fighting spirit that deflated Samsonova so badly that she saved in quite quickly in the second set to hand Tomljanovic a 7-6 (8), 6-1 victory.
As mentioned earlier, the Aussie had earlier sent Serena out in the third round in what was probably one of the best wins of her career given the kind of support her American opponent had.
Coming into this one, Tomljanovic will know things could get a lot tougher but one can expect her to do a lot better than those odds of 9/5 (with bet365) suggest.
