Ajla Tomljanovic v Dayana Yastremska Head to Head

The two players have met only once and that encounter took place in the final qualifying round of the China Open. Yastremska won that match in three sets to take a 1-0 lead in the head to head tally.

Yastremska Continues Her Dream Run

The 18-year-old Ukranian has been quite brilliant so far this season. Most recently, she reached the third round in the Australian Open after edging past the likes of Samantha Stosur and Carla Suarez Navarro. She had a similar run in Hobart as well, where she was a quarterfinalist.

Owing to her performance, she recently moved to the No. 47 position in the world – her best singles ranking as of yet. Her rise through the ranks has been quite inspiring and sensational. Last year, she started the season as the World No. 188 and moved up to finish it as the World No. 60.

She won WTA Hong Kong and followed that winning run with a semifinal appearance in Luxembourg. She also spent some time on the ITF circuit to build her form and needless to mention, her efforts are paying off quite well. In Hua Hin, she defeated the top seed Garbine Muguruza 7-6(5), 6-1.

Tomljanovic Closing in on Her First Singles Title

The 25-year-old Australian has lost three finals in her career so far as she continues her quest for her maiden singles WTA title. She played two of those three finals last year in Morocco and Seoul and lost on both the occasions to Elise Mertens and Kiki Bertens.

Tomljanovic will be eager to avoid a repeat of those past defeats in this upcoming final. She has been fairly impressive in the competition so far, defeating the likes of Saisai Zheng and Tamara Zidansek. This is also her best run of the season, considering that in Melbourne and Sydney, she barely made it past the first round.

In terms of her form, she is not the most consistent player on the tour although, she is capable of delivering good results.

Tomljanovic v Yastremska Predictions & Tips

Yastremska will start this match as the favourite to win. She has been in a much better form than her Australian adversary and is more than capable of winning here. At the same time, Tomljanovic is far more experienced than the Ukranian and we can definitely expect some resistance from her. It wouldn’t be surprising if this one goes to three sets.

Owing to this fiercely contested tie, bet365 are offering 8/15 on Yastremska to win.
