Sloane Stephens v Magdalena Frech Head to Head
These two have played once before this with Stephens having defeated Frech in the 2018 French open second round encounter.

It’s not been the best of seasons for Stephens and this is despite the American having won her first WTA title since 2018 this year.
That has been Stephens’ issue, her consistency. Having lifted the trophy on the hard court surface of Guadalajara in February, she reached the quarterfinal of the French Open that followed in March.
Other than those two results, however, Stephens has found life on the tennis court very onerous.
If you remove those two results from 2022, Stephens has won just four of the 17 matches she has played, and gotten knocked out in the first round of 13 of those tournaments.
She will hope she can avoid that fate as she returns to clay for the first time since that Roland Garros foray.

Frech Hoping to Convert ITF Form Here
While Frech has done her bit at the lower circuit and national leagues like the Polish National Championship, her results at the highest level have left a lot to desire.
Sure, there was a third round appearance at Wimbledon which turned out to be her best showing for the season, but other than that, Frech hasn’t won successive main draw matches on the WTA circuit.
More recently she participated in a WTA 125 competition in Budapest and was knocked out in round one, after having suffered a similar fate at the US Open.
What Frech would want is to go into this encounter with a positive mindset knowing Stephens’ propensity to be inconsistent. And with a bit of luck, she might have a chance as well.
