Oscar Otte did not arrive in Sofia in very good shape as the German struggled in recent weeks. He lost five consecutive matches before coming to Sofia and winning the first-round encounter. It’s been a strange run of results for him as it was a part of the season where he was expected to play well.
Otte is a very streaky player and it’s not unheard off that he either plays really well or really badly for a prolonged time. The German has a powerful serve and loves to attack so generally indoor hard courts should suit him well however the courts have been slowing down over recent years.
It’s been a focused effort on that and players like Otte struggle with it. This is a fair matchup for him, one that he can win but he’ll need to play a bit more consistently.
They have never player before so it should be a proper challenge especially if the Polish player brings his best serving.

Majchrzak in Good Form
Unlike his opponent, the Polish player arrived in Sofia after scoring some solid wins that should give him confidence here. Indoors are very flattering to his playstyle as he has a very precise and powerful serve albeit very inconsistent. If he brings his best serving he’ll have a chance here.
He will also need to keep his errors on the lower side and all of that should be enough to beat Otte. Two wins in the Davis Cup gave him some good rhythm and he showed it against Berankis in round one. He wasn’t favoured to win that one but he played better and did.
It can certainly happen in this one as well and the win could tie his overall season record of wins and losses at 20.
It’s been a mixed season so far for him but he’s been decent indoor in previous years and with some good wins in recent weeks, he’ll fancy a win here.

This is an interesting one where Otte is favoured to win but only slightly. I expect a very close one and the over might be a good idea because both are very streaky and it’s hard to predict who will have a better day.
