Novak Djokovic v Pablo Andujar Head to Head

Two previous meetings have both yielded Djokovic wins but they last faced off in a match more than 10 years ago.

Djokovic Hoping to Manage Wrist Injury

While Djokovic should not worry too much about an opponent like Pablo Andujar, it’s not like he will enter this competition without any challenges to face.

The former world number one, who lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime on the final day of Laver Cup last Sunday, has a wrist problem which requires managing and monitoring in the lead-up to the season-ending ATP Finals.

Djokovic looked to have suffered the injury in the lead-up to the Laver Cup and that looked to have had an effect on the Serbian’s serving.

Which could be a problem as Djokovic looks to qualify for the ATP Finals having fallen to 15th on the ATP Finals Race. While winning Wimbledon still gives Djokovic that eighth spot on the list, he will need to finish in the top 20 on that aforementioned rankings charts to be eligible.

To do that he will need to go deep in some of the tournament he participates in including here at Tel Aviv.

Andujar Rushes Past Monteiro

Andujar was once ranked 32nd in the world but has now fallen to 115th. This year too, his highest ranking was 64th which he attained in February but since then Andujar has struggled to get going.

The Spaniard, who had made it to the third round at Australian Open and then won a couple of rounds at Rio as well, hasn’t won too much at the highest level since then.

Which is why a first round win over Thiago Monteiro, despite having gone into the encounter at 7/4 odds, would be such a morale-booster. More so because it was a straight-set effort that saw him scoop a 7-6 (3), 6-1 result and march into the second round.

Whether that would be enough against a player of the calibre of Djokovic remains to be seen but Andujar would hope he can take advantage of his opponent’s possible serving issues.

Djokovic v Andujar Prediction and Tip

Djokovic is 1/33 to win this but expecting Andujar to get in a few games to his name.

Tip: Over 17.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
