Bonaventure Stuns Teichmann
Ysaline Bonaventure is having herself quite a week in Tallinn as she has reached a rare quarterfinal on the WTA Tour. She achieved this feat after upsetting Jil Teichmann 7-6(8), 6-3 – building on her similar straight-set win over Shelby Rogers in the first round.
Impressively, Ysaline started as a qualifier in Estonia and beat Mirjam Bjorklund and Georgina Perez to reach the main draw.
Currently, the 28-year-old Belgian is ranked #138, set to compete in her first tour-level quarterfinal since the 2021 WTA Hamburg.
Between then and now, she has focussed her efforts mainly on the ITF circuit. Bonaventure has two ITF finals this season – most recently in the Reinert Open, where she was beaten by the Czech teenager Linda Noskova in the final.
