Coric’s Returned to Top Form

He was as low as 279th in the world at one point this season because of his absence from the sport but Coric has come back rather well. Currently ranked 26th, Coric enjoyed a rich vein of form that saw him win a couple of tournaments.

The first came at the Challenger level at Parma which allowed Boric the luxury to compete directly at the Hamburg Open where he then reached the quarterfinal.

Coric’s biggest result, however, saw him clinch his first ever Masters 1000 title in Cincinnati but more vitally the manner of win would have pleased him.

In pocketing that title, Coric shocked the likes of Rafael Nadal, Roberto Bautista-Agut, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Cameron Norrie and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

And while he fell in the second round at US Open, Coric will want to close out the season on a high with a strong showing here and the Paris Masters later.

Kokkinakis’ Won Just One Main Draw Match Since Wimbledon

Kokkinakis is ranked 80th in the world and to move up the charts, will need to do a lot better than he has in recent times.

A first round win at the Los Cabos Open over Fernando Verdasco was par for the course but since then, Kokkinakis hasn’t won a single round. In fact since reaching the second round in Atlanta, Kokkinakis’ record is a paltry 1-5 on win-loss

This is after the Aussie had reached the semifinal at the Adelaide International to kick-start the year and then won the title in another tournament played in that city.

Can he regain some of his form coming up against Coric in this encounter?
