Carlos Alcaraz v Holger Rune Head to Head
While the two players haven’t faced off at the highest level they did play each other at the ATP Next Gen Finals in 2021 and Alcaraz had run away with a very easy win.

Alcaraz did participate in the Davis Cup last month but he now returns to ATP action for the first time as the world number one as he takes to court in Astana.
The Spaniard fell to a three-set loss to Felix Auger-Aliassime in his first match at the Davis Cup before overcoming Soon-woo Kwon in straight sets in the second. What would be interesting to watch here is how Alcaraz manages to handle this newly-exerted pressure of having reached the pinnacle of the world rankings.
Because not so much in the distance past, Alcaraz had struggled to do that when he became the world number four for the first time. As a 19-year-old it was never going to be easy and that’s exactly what happened.
The good news is he managed to overcome those issues and stormed to a Grand Slam title win at Flushing Meadows. Now for a strong start against an in-form Rune.

Rune Turning Things Around in Sofia
For a player who has done exceedingly well on clay but struggled on other surfaces, his performance in Sofia should do Rune’s confidence a world of good.
The Dane, who is ranked 31st in the world, looked to have overcome his hard court woes as he marched into the final of the Sofia Open. In getting there, he overcame Tim van Rijthoven, Lorenzo Sonego, Ilya Ivashka and the two-time defending champion and 3/10 favourite Jannik Sinner.
The signs of that turnaround looked to be there as he overcame Benjamin Bonzi in the first round at Metz before putting up a fight against Alexander Bublik before going down. He had earlier made the third round at US Open as well.
Now up against the world number one, things could get way tougher but Rune will hope to pull through with a solid showing.
Alcaraz v Rune Prediction and Tip
Alcaraz will hope to get back to his fighting, clinical ways but Rune will look to put up a fight. The one issue Rune could face is the lack of turnaround between the two tournaments and that might make it that much easier for Alcaraz.
