Home favourite Barbora Krejcikova is all set for a good run in the 2022 Ostrava Open. Despite being unseeded, the Czech has got a good chance of making it deep.
She is set to compete here after a wonderful week in Tallinn, where she won her first singles title by beating Beatriz Haddad Maia, Belinda Bencic, and Anett Kontaveit en route to the trophy.
This kind of form and momentum, combined with her home advantage, makes her a prime candidate and the player to beat. Of course, a lot will also depend on how well she can carry this run forward.
Krejcikova is now 21-14, and the Tallinn Open was only her third tournament of the season where she won more than two matches in an event. She has been beaten quite a few times by lower-ranked players as well.
That said, Barbora, the current World No. 23, has had a phenomenal doubles season with three majors – all with Katerina Siniakova.

Rogers, Struggling to Deliver
Shelby Rogers is 19-19 at the moment and is looking to build some rhythm in the European tournaments.
So far this season, most of her wins have come in American events – barring the Libema Open, where she was a semifinalist. After a decent US Open series – title in San Jose and mid-round stints in Cincinnati and New York – she played in Tallinn, where she fell to the then #138 Ysaline Bonaventure in straight sets.
Shelby is currently ranked No. 35 and is well-experienced overall. Her pedigree, however, isn’t as impressive as Krejcikova’s.
While she has beaten a few big names over her career, her lack of consistency may be a problem.
