Daniil Medvedev v Albert Ramos-Vinolas

Daniil Medvedev begins his indoor season campaign with a match against Albert Ramos. It’s a fair challenge for the Russian but not one where he should have many problems. Ramos is a solid player but his level drops off a cliff once he leaves clay courts.

Indoors is even worse than outdoors hard courts and he is really going to struggle here. The conditions certainly favour Medvedev more as he should have an easier time serving but a return is a weapon that he can unleash as well. Another thing he should try and avoid is his loose style of play.

He will never fully get rid of that part of his game but if he takes it remotely seriously I do think this should be a fairly easy match for him. Ramos can’t touch him because he doesn’t have the power to hit through Medvedev and the Russian will be on every ball.

Their only clash came in 2019 and Medvedev won it albeit in three sets. There won’t be three sets tomorrow.

Tip: Games Handicap Medvedev -5.5: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Tallon Griekspoor v Alexander Bublik

Another interesting match will happen at the Astana Open with native Alexander Bublikb taking on Tallon Griekspoor. It’s a very interesting match between two players whose game is built around their serve. Both serve well and Bublik is the player that risks far more in his game.

He will probably attack both after his serve and on return and for Griekspoor it will be very important to hold firmly against the attack of Bublik. If he can survive that and frustrate Bublik enough for him to start missing a lot, there is a chance there.

Bublik is the favourite in this one simply because he is playing at home. The fans will back him and he’ll certainly enjoy playing at a complex where he spent plenty of time. We might see a close match, we might see three sets, but I don’t think we’ll see Bublik leave the court first.

Tip: Bublik to win: 4/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Carlos Alcaraz v David Goffin

The number one player in the world will make his debut in Astana tomorrow and he faces David Goffin in round one. A couple of years ago this would have been a big challenge for the Spaniard but Goffin has been playing really poor tennis in recent weeks.

The drop in form came out of nowhere as he played really well at Wimbledon but once he went to North America it’s been going downhill. He’s 2-4 since the season moved to indoor despite generally being a very strong indoor player. Alcaraz is one as well as he went 10-3 last year with some notable wins as well.

The Spaniard has created a bit of a habit of not forcing the issue as much as he did earlier in his career. He takes a measured approach to his matches looking to win and not trash his opponent. He will win this match but Goffin could make this a bit more interesting.

19,5 is not a huge margin and there is a good chance this goes over that.

Tip: Over 19.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
