Tomas Berdych v Filip Krajinovic Head to Head

This will be the first meeting between the two players.

Veteran Berdych Looks to Keep Perfect Montpellier Record

Tomas Berdych continues his re-energized 2019 season, with wins over Mathias Bachinger, and Benoit Paire this week at Montpellier. After a long injury lay-off that put a premature end to his 2018 season, Berdych has had a strong return to the tour.

The Czech had a good outing at the ATP 250 in Doha, where he was a finalist and a fourth round outing at the Australian Open, beating seeded players along the way.

This is his second visit to the Montpelier tournament, winning it in 2012 which was the only other time he has played here. Berdych had a challenging first round against Bachinger, losing the first set. However, he had a very impressive second round against Frenchman Paire winning 6-2,6-0. Berdych lost only five points on serve in his match against Paire.

Berdych has not won an ATP title since Shenzen in October 2016 and will hope to end that title drought sooner rather than later. His attacking game with a big serve and powerful forehand is well suited to the indoor, hard court surface here.

Confident Krajinovic Looks to Continue Strong Start to the Week

Filip Krajinovic has had a good run thus far in Montpellier, beating Nicolas Mahut and number two seed David Goffin. The talented Serbian has been plagued by injury in recent times and almost fell out of the top 100 rankings in 2018. He started his season at the Australian Open, where he lost in the third round to Borna Coric.

Krajinovic is a name that has promised a lot on the tour, but not managed to convert it into successful results. A final appearance at the Paris Masters in 2017, and the Dubai ATP 500 semi-finals in 2018 were indications that he may have finally obtained the confidence for consistentcy. However, injury setbacks and indifferent form have continued to plague him and deter his move up the rankings.

A powerful striker of the ball, who has displayed some already this week, he definitely has the tools to trouble Berdych and any of the other remaining players in the Montpellier draw.

Berdych v Krajinovic Prediction and Tips

Krajinovic’s talent and current form will give him the necessary belief to aim to progress further into the tournament. Deploying a very efficient game plan against Goffin was key, and he will aim to continue to do that again. However, Berdych (2/5 with bet365 ) this season has looked sharp and promising.

With regained confidence, and his powerful game, he will be hard to stop. The first encounter between these two should be an exciting prospect, but expect Berdych to make the semi-finals here again and keep his unbeaten record.

A two sets to love win coming up for Berdych – with  Unibet offering 1/1 for it.
