Alize Cornet v Tamara Zidansek Head to Head

Cornet leads 1-0, last beating Zidansek in the Australian Open 2022 in three sets.

Cornet Yet to Drop a Set

World No. 37 Alize Cornet has gone without losing a set in Monastir this week. In the opener, she beat Laura Pigossi 7-6(3), 6-0 and then Harriet Dart 6-3, 6-4.

With this, she is now 24-22 and is seeking to reach her first singles final since the Chicago Open last year.

She did come close to it in August when she reached the semis in Cleveland but fell to Aliaksandra Sasnovich. The 33-year-old competed in the same round in Bad Homburg too.

Cornet followed the Cleveland run with a third-round stint in the US Open but then lost to Kaja Juvan in the first round in Portoroz thereafter.

Credit where it is due, Alize was also a quarterfinalist in the Australian Open earlier this season – her best result in a major after competing for over 15 years.

Zidansek in a Rare QF

Tamara Zidansek has a chance to redeem herself in Monastir by reaching the semifinal. It will not be easy, but she has the skills to do the job.

In the first round, her opponent was the Spanish qualifier Marina Ribera, whom she beat 5-7, 6-3, 7-5. In the next round, she beat the sixth seed Anastasia Potapova 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

With this, the Slovenian is up 14-18 and is keen to make up for her disappointing season so far.

The 24-year-old was the #22 only in February; now, she is outside the top 100 – sitting at the 101st spot. Tamara had an impressive start as she reached the semifinal in Adelaide and later the third round in Melbourne.

Since then, she has managed two wins in a tournament only in the French Open. To put it differently, Zidansek bagged just six WTA main-draw wins.

Cornet v Zidansek Prediction and Tip

The match can go either way, but Cornet makes a good bet. She is experienced, eager, and determined to leave her mark.

Moreover, she has a solid pedigree and a decent record against the top 20 players on the tour – at least when compared to Zidansek.

Tip: Cornet to Win, Over 20.5 Games: 11/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
