Iga Swiatek v Jessica Pegula Head to Head

There have been four previous meetings between these two players and Swiatek leads 3-1.

Pegula had won their first ever match at Washington in 2019 but since then, they have met three times – all of which came this year – and Swiatek is yet to drop a set.

Their most recent outing came at the 2022 US Open in the quarterfinal which Swiatek clinched 6-3, 7-6 (4) en route a title win.

Swiatek Demolishes Gauff

The Swiatek-Cori Gauff rivalry is expected to be one to watch over the years to come with the two women tipped to win a few Grand Slams between them. For now, however, Swiatek seems to have gotten a huge mental hold over Gauff and the American is finding it difficult to shrug.

Because for the fourth time in their career, Swiatek got past Gauff but making it worse for the American is this turned out to be her worst loss to the world number one.

Having lost the French Open final to Swiatek for the loss of just four games, Gauff won just three games this time around and on a surface which should have suited her more than the clay courts of Roland-Garros.

Swiatek was on court for a mere 66 minutes in her 6-0, 6-3 demolition of Gauff, with the Polish player saving all the three break-points she faced while breaking her opponent five times in the encounter.

In this kind of a form, it would be very surprising Pegula – or anyone else – would find it too easy to stop Swiatek.

Pegula Finds Key Easy to Decipher

For the second time in a row, Pegula was facing an American and for the second successive time she won it in straight sets to march into the semifinal.

Pegula needed an hour and 34 minutes as she went past Madison Keys 6-4, 7-5 to seal her fourth semifinal berth of the season.

Following on from a first round bye and a 6-3, 6-1 rout of Coco Vandeweghe, Pegula broke Keys early in the first set and saved three break-points en route clinching the set.

It took a lot more than that for Pegula in the second though as she dropped her serve in the sixth game for starters before levelling things out in the seventh. Pegula then broke Keys again at 5-5 before needing four match-points to claim her spot against Swiatek

Pegula will hope she can reverse the US Open, French Open and Miami Open defeats this year at the hands of the number one.

Swiatek v Pegula Prediction and Tip

This looks like this could be headed one way only and that’s in favour of Swiatek. Straight sets again.
