Botic van de Zandschulp is 37-25 on the tour this year. The Dutchman has been a consistent performer this year, but he has struggled a bit recently.

In the last two tournaments, Van de Zandschulp won his opening round matches in Tel Aviv and Astana but lost in the second round of both the tournaments.

The World no. 34 had reached his maiden ATP final in Munich this year, but had to pull out early in the first set due to an injury. He was also a semifinalist in Queen’s and Winston-Salem and produced his best results at the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon.

Van de Zandschulp had peaked to a career-high ranking of no. 22 in August, but has fallen out of the top 30 due to his recent slump, but he has shown that he can win matches on a regular basis and has been knocked out of the first round of a tournament very few times this year.

He will be hoping to win another opening round fixture on Tuesday.

Stricker Through as Varona Retires

Dominic Stricker will be featuring in just his third ATP event of the season. The Swiss advanced to the main draw in Antwerp after his second qualifying round opponent Nicolas Alvarez Varona witthdrew after losing the first set 7-6.

The 20-year-old had won the first qualifying round against Alexander Blockx, beating the Belgian 6-4, 6-4.

A winner of two Challenger title from three finals this year, Stricker is 31-10 overall this season.

On the tour, the World no. 136 qualified in Stuttgart before knocking out Maxime Cressy in the first round. But he couldn’t go past the second round. He also featured in the main draw in Gstaad, where he once again won the opener, but fell in round 2.
