Cameron Norrie v Aslan Karatsev Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came at the Queen’s competition of 2021 where Norrie had won in straight sets.

Norrie’s Had an Inconsistent Recent Run

Things looked to be going Norrie’s way as the Brit climbed up to eighth in the world with some fine performances at Wimbledon, Los Cabos Open, Cincinnati Masters and the US Open but some of that mojo seems to have gone away since.

Since getting knocked out of the US Open fourth round, Norrie has featured in three Davis Cup matches, one Laver Cup encounter and an ATP tournament in Seoul and has struggled in various ways.

For starters he failed to do much at the Davis Cup, losing two of the three matches and in the process saw his country getting knocked out. Norrie also lost his only match at the Laver Cup to Taylor Fritz and most vitally had to withdraw from his second match at Seoul because of Covid-19.

He now returns in the hope he can go deep in this competition and try and get himself a chance to qualify for the ATP Finals but can he shrug off the possible after-effects of his illness?

Karatsev Goes Past Rosol

Despite his poor form in recent times, Karatsev was a 9/20 favourite coming into his opening round encounter and he lived up to those odds with a straightforward win over Lukas Rosol.

In a match lasting a mere hour and 11 minutes, Karatsev registered a 6-3, 6-2 win over Rosol to seal his second successive second round berth.

Why this is important to note is because in the four tournaments before that and in seven of the eight competitions, Karatsev had lost his opener every single time.

A comfortable win like the one in this match which saw him break Rosol once in the first set and then three times in the second should give Karatsev some relief. Coming up against Norrie, however, it looks doubtful he would have too much going his way.

Norrie v Karatsev Prediction and Tip

Norrie’s recent illness is the only question we have and that is why he starts off 2/5 to win this. Going for a Norrie win but unsure of how much time he spends on the court doing that.

Tip: Norrie to win: 2/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
