Dimirov’s Second Half of the Season Not as Good as the First

Earlier this year Dimitrov chalked up a personal milestone when he became the latest player to have chalked up 350 career wins.

He also reached the quarter -finals at Indian Wells and the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters.

There has been little to compare with that in the second half of the season, and indeed, he has only won once since Montreal, and that was at the US Open, where he was beaten in the second round by Brandon Nakashima.

Subsequent to that, he lost in the first round in Sofia, and again in Stockholm last week, where he was beaten by the Czech Jiri Lehecka,

Brazilian Qualifier Monteiro Prefers Clay

Two wins on the Challenger tour in recent months have helped propel Monteiro to a new career high ranking, although the fact that they were both on clay provides a clear clue as to where the strength of his game lies.

He is less assured on other surfaces.

Since winning the second of those titles in Genoa, Italy, the best result he has managed is a  second round appearance in Gijon, and he lost his opening match in Stockholm last week.

Forced to qualify in Vienna, he defeated Dusan Lajovic of Serbia, and Oscar Otte of Germany to earn his place against Dimitrov.

Dimitrov v Monteiro Prediction and Tip

Although Dimitrov is not enjoying the best of form right now, he is still expected to beat a man who is at his best on clay.
