Norrie Makes an Impressive Start

Cameron Norrie notched his 49th win of the year as he dispatched Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic in the opening round of the Paris Masters on Tuesday.

The world no. 13, who has lost a bit of momentum over the last one month or so, looked in fine touch in the opening round as he produced a superb service display to knock out the world no. 29, 6-2, 6-4 in an hour and 11 minutes.

The British lefty did not allow the Serb a single break point in the match. He served 8 aces and won 91% points on his first delivery. In fact he dropped just nine service points in the entire match.

Norrie held five break points in the match and he converted three of them to move within one win of a 50-match season. Norrie’s excellent season has been highlighted by four finals. The four-time tour-lvel champion won his two titles of the season in Delray Beach and Lyon and finished runner-up in Acapulco and Los Cabos.

After making an impressive start he will be hoping to win another and match his last year’s result at the Paris Masters.

Moutet Stuns Coric

Qualifier Corentin Moutet came back from a set down to stun the in-form Borna Coric in the opening round at the Paris Masters on Tuesday.

Moutet, who had beaten fellow Frenchmen Ugo Humbert and Geoffrey Blancaneaux, in the two qualifying rounds respectively, needed two hours and 37 minutes to dump out the Cincinnati Masters champion in the first round.

The world no. 64 saved 6 of 7 break points and converted half of the four that he held to complete a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Moutet, who struck 26 winners to Coric’s 37, won 24 of 37 net points while his opponent won just 36 points after approaching the net on 61 occasions.

The 23-year-old lefty, who was a finalist in Qatar in 2020, improved his tour-level season record to 13-10. He hasn’t done well lately, winning just a round each in Florence and Napoli and falling in the first qualifier in Vienna. But with three wins from three matches in Paris, including qualifiers, he will be full of confidence going into round 2. Can he pull off another surprise?

Norrie v Moutet Prediction and Tip
