Lehecka Improves about 70 Places This Season

Having hit a season low of 143rd in the world as early as in the second week of January, Lehecka will end the season ranked 74th on the ATP charts. He had improved to 59th at one stage in the early part of August too before settling some 15 spots below that.

That has allowed the Czech 20-year-old to make it to the Next Gen Finals, with his performances on clay being instrumental in allowing him to get going.

A Challenger win aside, Lehecka’s best performance this season came at the Rotterdam Open early this season when he made the semifinal there as a qualifier.

Wins over Denis Shapovalov, Botic van de Zandschulp and fellow Next Gen Finals qualifier Lorenzo Musetti took him to the last four stage there before he fell fighting to Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Can he kick-start his competition here with a win?

Passaro at Career-High Ranking

That Passaro has been one of the most improved players in the world is without a doubt.

The Italian had begun the 2021 season ranked outside the top 1000 while he was outside the top 600 earlier this year. He will end the year on the cusp of breaking into the top 100 and that has been down to, and much like his opponent here, his performance on clay.

With two Challenger titles won on the red dirt, Passaro’s best showing at the highest level came at the Florence Open when he made it to the second round there as a qualifier.

Most of his solid showings, however, were down on the Challenger circuit and a strong showing here could give him that confidence to take that step up when the new season begins in 2023.

Can Passaro put up a brave front here?

Lehecka v Passaro Prediction and Tip

No surprises that Lehecka starts off a favourite here with bet365 offering 4/9 for his win but we believe Passaro has a chance to win a set at the very least here.

Tip: Lehecka to win in four or five sets: 3/1 or 5/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
