Lorenzo Musetti v Dominic Stricker

Two players that play very differently but both scored wins in straight sets in the previous round. The Italian is widely expected to garner widespread support in Milan and that was certainly the case in his first match. Musetti played a very balanced match doing pretty well on return and enough on serve to cruise to a straight-sets victory.

Stricker was a bit more impressive because he faced a player who is better ranked than Musetti. The Swiss player was largely unplayable on his serve demonstrating raw power and a lot of risk-taking. It’s something Musetti will have to find a way to counter but it will be very tough.

The Swiss player has a really strong serve that gives him plenty of free points and the fast surface plays well into his forehand. He didn’t miss much yesterday but that is always something to expect when you have such an aggressive player. Expect a close one but Musetti to win.

Tip: Musetti to win: 1/3 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Jack Draper v Chun-Hsin Tseng

Both of these players lost in the previous round and while it was not a surprise for Tseng it certainly was for Draper. The British player did not play a very strong match, certainly not as well as he could have played. He was a bit lacklustre from the baseline struggling to hang with a very aggressive Stricker.

The serve was decent but he is certainly capable of far more and look for him to bounce back in this matchup. Tseng did what he could against Musetti but it’s evident that’s not yet accustomed to playing some of the better players on the Tour.

He needs to hone his skill more and needs more matches against the best. They never played before and I expect this one to go to Draper in fairly comfortable straight sets. He’s simply got better weapons that will work in his favour on a faster court.

Tip: Draper to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Brandon Nakashima v Jiri Lehecka

Two players that also won in the previous round will meet but they played very different matches. Jiri Lehecka was mostly unbothered against a native player edging him out in three sets. Nakashima had far more trouble with another native player needing five sets to win the match.

The American was in Milan last year so his struggle against Matteo Arnaldi was not expected but the win is ultimately all that matters. He never faced Lehecka before so it will be quite tricky. Nakashima has a solid serve and solid groundstrokes but Lehecka has a pretty good return that can trouble his opponents quite a bit if you give him the chance.

This comes down largely to whether you believe Nakashima will step up from yesterday. He is the more complete player overall but Lehecka is more dangerous indoors due to his serve which can be really tough to handle at times. I’ll stick with the better player though.

Tip: Nakashima to win: 1/3 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
