Who is Playing at the 2023 ATP Tata Open Maharashtra?

The 2023 ATP Tata Open Maharashtra does not boast a single top-10 player in its entry list, but there is no shortage of star power in the draw. Six of the top eight seeds are ranked inside the world’s top 50, including top seed and former US Open winner Marin Cilic.

It is a major coup for the tournament particularly when you consider it fielded one of the weakest lineups for an ATP event in 2022.

Elsewhere, Taiwan’s Tseng Chun-Hsin will be one to keep an eye on, as he made quite the splash in 2022 by qualifying for the Next Gen ATP Finals and breaking the world’s top 100.

Last year’s beaten finalist Emil Ruusuvuori has unfinished business in Pune and will return to go one better this year.

The top eight seeds at the ATP Tata Open Maharashtra are as follows:

  1. Marin Cilic
  2. Botic van de Zandschulp
  3. Emil Ruusuvuori
  4. Sebastian Baez
  5. Jenson Brooksby
  6. Alex Molcan
  7. Filip Krajinovic
  8. Jaume Munar

Our ATP Tata Open Maharashtra 2023 Predictions & Picks

At 4/1 Marin Cilic starts as the favorite to clinch his third ATP Tata Open Maharashtra title. Cilic won this event twice when it was staged in Chennai. He has a kind draw by the looks of things, with a handful of clay-court specialists lurking in his draw. Assuming he can avoid Nikoloz Basilashvili in the quarterfinal (his potential banana skin), it is hard to see nayone troubling the Croat.

For a value bet, we like Botic van de Zandschulp and Emil Ruusuvuori who are both in the bottom half of the draw. The Dutchman is the second seed and at 11/2 looks like a good return for your money.

The same could be said of Ruusuvuroi, a finalist here last year, and will be familiar with the court conditions. He is 7/1 to win the whole thing and he could quite feasibly go one better this year.

Men’s singles winner: Emil Ruusuvuori: 7/1
