Belinda Bencic v Yulia Putintseva Head to Head
There have been four main draw matches between these two players at the highest level and the scoreline reads a 2-2 on head to head. All four matches came on hard court surfaces with Bencic winning their previous encounter in Doha in 2020.

In what was another team event, Bencic won four singles matches in the Billie Jean King Cup late last year to help Switzerland clinch the title for the first time ever.
Bencic defeated the likes of Ajla Tomljanovic, Karolina Pliskova, Leylah Fernandez and Jasmine Paolini, all in straight sets to win the tournament for her country. More importantly, it would have been a great feel-good for Bencic to end the season on, having earlier won the Charleston Open title.
Earlier, Bencic had made the semifinal of the Miami Open as well, along with the Talinn Open while entering the final in Berlin.
With that kind of form under her belt, Bencic should have no problems starting out in the new season with a lot of confidence under her belt. The question is if she can make it count against a player who has had her time under the sun against Bencic.

Putintseva Struggling Since Rogers Cup Showing
Putintseva looked to have done all the hard work last season having shown a lot of consistency through the year but her form fell away towards the end.
The world number 51 made the quarterfinal in the WTA 1000 competition in Toronto, but since getting there has lost seven of the nine matches she’s played. This included a second round defeat at the US Open and a qualifying loss in San Diego as well.
What Putintseva will hope to achieve is get some of her old form from 2022 back.
Form that included a third round appearance at the Miami Open, a semifinal in Istanbul and another one in Budapest before her quarterfinal appearance at the Rogers Cup.
