Magda Linette v Jil Teichmann Head to Head
Teichmann won the only meeting between the pair at the 2021 Chicago Open in straight sets.

After Hubert Hurkacz put Poland in the ascendancy, Magda Linette scored the winning point in her singles match against Zhibek Kulambayeva, before Iga Swiatek extended their lead to 4-1 in the tie.
Linette was in top gear as she dismissed the relatively unknown Kulambayeva 6-2 6-1 in just 61 minutes. The Polish World No. 48 recorded 18 winners to her opponent’s five.
She began the match on the front foot, breaking serve in the fourth game to take a 3-1 lead. She went on to establish an insurmountable lead with two further breaks, before rounding off the set in 37 minutes.
The gulf in rankings was evident as the World No. 441 Kulambayeva was outclassed in the second by Linette’s weight of shot. The Pole secured two breaks in the second set to seal Poland’s win.

Teichmann Eases Past Kulambayeva
For Team Switzerland’s Jil Teichmann, it was a similar story as she brushed aside Kazakhstan’s novice 6-3 6-2 in an hour and 23 minutes.
If Teichmann was looking for a stress-free opening match to her season, Kulambayeva was the perfect prep for her game. Teichmann tried all sorts of shots, refining her game for much sterner tests ahead.
The Swiss lefty gave her country a clean sweep in singles matches as Switzerland demolished Kazakhstan, who failed to score a single point in the tie.
Teichmann went down a break to start things off, but she quickly turned the match on its head, taking a commanding 6-3 5-0. Kulambayeva battled from the brink but it was not enough to hit through Teichmann.
Linette v Teichmann Prediction and Tip
Now that both players have settled into the new season, getting the expected win in their opening singles rubbers, it should make up for a compelling match. Linette though looks a bit tidy in her game and footwork. That will be needed in abundance to take out Teichmann and give Poland a massive point in the tie.
