Caroline Garcia v Katerina Siniakova Head to Head

Siniakova leads Garcia 4-2, having won their last three meetings on the WTA Tour. They last met in the 2021 Parma Open quarterfinals, where Katerina won 7-5, 6-1.

Garcia the Player to Beat

Reigning WTA Finals champion Caroline Garcia enjoyed a decent start to the new season. Representing France in the United Cup 2023, she won her singles fixtures against Petra Martic and Nadia Podoroska in straight sets and her mixed doubles bout against the Argentinean contingent.

However, her efforts were in vain as France didn’t make it past the group stage. Nonetheless, with two wins to kick off the year, she will be optimistic.

Garcia is looking to build on her solid 2022 season that saw her regain her career-best ranking as World No. 4 and end the year with a phenomenal 46-20.

The 29-year-old also won the Bad Homburg Open, Poland Open, Cincinnati Open, and the French Open doubles.

With this kind of momentum and pedigree, Caro is effectively the player to knock out in Adelaide. However, her opponent has other plans.

Siniakova Enjoys a Walkover

After a rough start in Adelaide International 1 – where she fell to Claire Liu in the final qualifier match – doubles number one Katerina Siniakova has enjoyed a good run in the 2nd version of the tournament.

In the prelims, she dispatched Alexandra Osborne 6-0, 6-4 and Ana Bogdan 6-7, 7-5, 7-5, to reach the main draw.

Her opening match with Anastasia Potapova ended in a comfortable 6-1, 1-0 score as the Russian withdrew, citing fitness concerns in the second set.

As for Siniakova’s form in 2022, she had an underwhelming spell on the singles circuit – bagging just the ITF Kozerki Open and WTA Slovenia Open. However, she will be pleased with her performance as she did finish as #48.

On the doubles side of things, she took six titles – including three majors.

Even in Adelaide last week, she reached the doubles final with Storm Hunter, losing to the pairing of Asia Muhammad and Taylor Townsend.

Garcia v Siniakova Prediction and Tip

Garcia is the odds-on favourite for this one, but Siniakova, having beaten her in their last three encounters, will fancy her prospects. The Czech makes for a good underdog bet.
