Alejandro Davidovich Fokina v Alexander Bublik Head to Head

Alexander Bublik leads Davidovich Fokina 1-0 in their head-to-head, winning that meeting on the clay of Barcelona in 2021.

Davidovich Fokina Makes Adelaide 2 Quarterfinals

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has played one tournament in the lead-up to the Australian Open. He was in action at the Adelaide International 2, where he earned a fantastic win over Next Gen Finals champion Brandon Nakashima in the first round.

And the flashy Spaniard backed up that odds-defying win by beating Australia’s John Millman in the second round. But Davidovich Fokina stumbled in the last eight where he lost to countryman Roberto Bautista Agut 6-3 6-2.

Davidovich Fokina will make his third main draw appearance at Melbourne Park. In his last two participations, he won his first-round match, and he gave a good account of himself last year when he took a set off Felix Auger-Aliassime in the second round.

The 23-year-old will be seeded at the Grand Slam level for the first time. While his overall record on hard courts is not the best (finished with a negative win-loss record in each of the past two seasons), he is certainly capable of turning it on anytime.

Bublik Winless in 2023

Alexander Bublik will be heading to this year’s Australian Open without any sort of match win. Bublik took part in the United Cup in Brisbane, Australia, where he was Kazakhstan’s Team Captain.

But he lost both of his singles matches to Stan Wawrinka and Hubert Hurkacz as his country finished bottom of the group. He then made the short trip to New Zealand to play at the Auckland Open.

However, Bublik had no success there as he lost in the first round to David Goffin. His mini-slump to start the year puts him in a very precarious position before the year’s first Major.

Bublik, like Davidovich Fokina, has won his first-round match Down Under in each of the last two years. Will he end his winless drought on Tuesday?

Davidovich Fokina v Bublik Prediction and Tip

Bublik hasn’t won any matches to start the year, but he has been very unfortunate being pitted with some of the ATP’s best straight from the gate. With such a powerful serve and a ferocious forehand, you cannot count him out on a fast surface against an opponent who is similarly unpredictable.
