Danka Kovinic v Viktorija Golubic Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2018 Lugano Open and Kovinic had won that encounter on clay in three sets.

Kovinic made a solid start to this season by making it to the semifinal stage at the WTA Auckland but she was then knocked out of the Australian Open in the very first round.
Having defeated Lauren Davis as one of the players to have reached the last four stage in Auckland, she went down fighting to her at the Melbourne opener.
What’s interesting to note is that Kovinic is a much better player on clay than in hardcourt competitions. She has won 12 lower-level tournaments in her career, all of which have come on clay.
There are two ways of looking at this. One, it makes her performances this season even more noteworthy but secondly, it gives her opponent here an edge given how well she does outside of clay.

Golubic Yet to Win a Main Draw Match This Season
Having started off ranked 76th in the world, Golubic would have fallen to 85th when the new WTA Rankings are released on Monday. This is thanks to her struggles in all three of the tournaments she has played this season.
Golubic, who has some excellent results in hardcourt competitions and more so at the lower level, would have expected to do a lot better than finish the three tournaments she has featured in so far without a main draw win.
The Swiss player won a couple of qualifying rounds in Adelaide before getting knocked out at the hands of Sorana Cirstea in the opener there. And followed it up with first round defeats to Kateryna Baindl at Hobart and Petra Martic at the Australian Open.
Golubic would believe she could have won at least one of these matches.
Now, she has a chance to notch up her first win against a clay-courter but one who has shown some form so far.

Golubic starts off a huge favourite here with bookmakers offering 3/10 for her win but we think it could go a lot closer than what those odds represent. Three-setter likely.
