Sloane Stephens v Pauline Parmentier Head to Head

The two ladies have met each other four times in their careers so far of which, three matches were played on the WTA circuit while the remaining one was a Fed Cup fixture. Stephens presently leads by 3-1 and has won their last two encounters, including the last year’s first round fixture in Acapulco.

Stephens Seeking to Make an Impact

Despite the fact that Sloane Stephens is currently the World No. 4 on the WTA Tour right now, she needs to win a trophy soon to retain her grip in the top five.

She ended her previous season on a high with a runner-up trophy in the WTA Finals. That was her third such feat that season, with the other two coming in the French Open and Canadian Open, losing to Simona Halep in the final in both the cases.

This season, however, she has had a rather dull start to the year. Stephens lost early in Brisbane and Sydney while in Melbourne, she succumbed to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the fourth round. That was her last event prior to WTA Acapulco.

Parmentier’s Mediocre Start to the Year

Parmentier is heading into this fixture with a win-loss tally of 4-5. With the sole exception of WTA Budapest, where she was a quarterfinalist, she hasn’t made it past the initial rounds in any of the other tournaments.

However, despite this unexciting start to the year, Parmentier enjoyed some success in recent times after a wait of more than a decade. Last year, she won the Istanbul Cup and WTA Quebec – her first titles since 2008. Apart from that, she concentrated mainly on the ITF circuit.

Stephens v Parmentier Predictions & Tips

Sloane Stephens will start this one as the favourite to win. She leads in the head-to-head tally and has been in a fairly better form than Parmentier of late. However, the Frenchwoman has the talent and experience to knock out the top seed, although her chances are slim
