Garcia 10-3 for the Season after Lyon Final

Garcia had re-announced herself to the world last season by winning four titles and very nearly added another one this year when she reached the final of the Lyon Open last week.

Unfortunately for the world number five, she met her match against Alycia Parks who scraped past Garcia 7-6 (7), 7-5 to claim the top honours.

Still, Garcia would be reasonably happy with her effort in the tournament as she jumped up to 10 wins from the 13 matches she’s played this year. This includes a fourth round appearance at the Australian Open where she had fallen to Magda Linette.

Last season, Garcia had made it to the second round here with a win over Simona Halep but then lost to Cori Gauff in the second. It came at a time when Garcia was still struggling to win matches and the aforementioned four titles were a while away.

This time around she comes into this with the added pressure of being the favourite. It would be interesting to see how she handles that.

Muchova Routs Trevisan

Not that Martina Trevisan is a player who has does too much of note on hardcourt surfaces but Muchova herself has fallen to 123rd in the world. So while she did start off as a favourite here, one could never be sure if Muchova had her A-game brought to this tournament.

Turns out, that’s exactly what Muchova did as she routed Trevisan 6-2, 6-2 in an hour and 20 minutes to enter the second round.

Slamming six aces and winning nearly 75% of all her points on serve, Muchova proceeded to break her Italian opponent four times from the 10 chances she got. In the end, the difference in the two players’ pedigree grew as the match progressed.

Earlier this year, Muchova had made the quarterfinal of the Auckland Open and was then edged out in the second round of the Australian Open as well.

Garcia v Muchova Prediction and Tip

Garcia is a heavy favourite here at 2/5 with Muchova expected to offer some resistance in one of the sets. Still expecting a straight set win for Garcia.
