Daniil Medvedev v Grigor Dimitrov Head to Head

From the six previous meetings in their career, Medvedev leads Dimitrov 4-2 on head to head.

Their last match-up came at the Vienna Open in 2022 and Medvedev had won that in straight sets. Dimitrov had clinched the one before that in Indian Wells in 2021.

Medvedev Blows Auger-Aliassime Away

Felix Auger-Aliassime knows some of these indoor surfaces like the back of his palms and that’s also why it’s no surprise all his four ATP titles have come on indoor hardcourt surfaces.

While his form has been slightly shaky this season, Auger-Aliassime would have given himself a solid chance against the former world number Medvedev given the kind of rhythm his opponent is in.

Medvedev, however, found a way past all of that, as he ran to a 6-2, 6-4 win over his Canadian opponent in a match lasting an hour and 23 minutes.

The first set was a one-sided affair which saw Medvedev break his opponent twice while facing and saving two break-points on his own serve. The second had a bit of a struggle for the Russian when he was broken back by Auger-Aliassime in the fourth game but once he got the control back in the seventh there was no looking back.

Medvedev had earlier gotten past Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Botic van de Zandschulp in the first two rounds.

Dimitrov Stretched to the Distance by de Minaur

In a match lasting two hours and 36 minutes, Dimitrov saved two match-points in the final set before coming back from 4-6 down in the deciding tie-breaker to win it 8-6 and with it the match.

Dimitrov, who had been on a bit of a roll in the tournament so far with wins over Aslan Karatsev and Hubert Hurkacz in the first two rounds, won 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (6) to enter the semifinal of an event he has once been a finalist at in 2018.

There was just one break-point on offer in the first set and Dimitrov grabbed that to take the lead. In the second, however, Dimitrov dropped his serve two times and while he pulled one back, de Minaur managed to level things out.

The decider looked to be going de Minaur’s way when he grabbed the early break and led 3-1 but Dimitrov came back with a break of his own in the sixth game. He then saved two more break-points and two match-points in the tie-breaker to win four points in a row and with it the right to play Medvedev in the semifinal.

Medvedev v Dimitrov Prediction and Tip

Medvedev will be a favourite to cream Dimitrov despite the latter’s form in this one. Expecting a straight-set victory for the world number 11.
