Miomir Kecmanovic v Radu Albot Head to Head

It’s their first meeting at the tour level, but they have met twice on the Challenger Tour and both those meetings were in a final. While Kecmanovic won the Suzhou Challenger final in 2017, Albot won the Liuzhou Challenger one year later.

Kecmanovic Holds Off Giron

Over the last one year, Miomir Kecmanovic has been a very consistent performer on the tour, reaching the quarterfinals and semifinals on a regular basis. But it’s been a while that the Serb has featured in a final.

At Delray Beach, the 23-year-old is one win away from a third career final and a first since winning his only ATP title in Kitzbuhel in 2020.

The fourth seed’s run to the semifinals so far has included two straight wins. He defeated Portugal’s Nuno Borges 6-3, 7-5 in the round of 16 and then knocked out Marcos Giron 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 in the quarterfinal on Friday.

In a one hour and 38 minute contest on Friday, Kecmanovic served 8 aces, saved 5 of 6 break points and capitalised on 2 of the 6 breaking opportunities that he held to oust the world no. 55.

While there was little to choose between the two players in the first set, which was eventually decided in the tiebreak, Giron broke Kecmanovic in the very first game of the second set. But the world no. 33 got the break back immediately and then got his nose in front with a second break in the sixth game. There were no more break sin the match as the Serbian marched into his first semifinal of the season.

He is 6-4 overall and was a quarterfinalist in Adelaide-2 in his only other significant performance of the season so far.

Albot Stuns Paul

Delray Beach remains a happy hunting venue for Radu Albot. The Moldovan, who won his only ATP title in this venue in 2019, will be playing for a spot in a second final on Saturday after he stunned second seed Tommy Paul in the quarterfinal on Friday.

The world no. 113, who got his first tour-level win of the season in Dallas last week, has won three matches in a row in Delray Beach and all the wins have come in straight sets.

Albot defeated Fernando Verdasco 7-6, 7-6 in the opening round and then eased past Aleksandar Vukic with a 6-4, 6-4 victory. In the quarterfinal against the Australian Open semifinalist, Albot was dominant from start to finish. He faced just two break points during teh match and he saved both of them.

The Moldovan broke the world no. 18 twice in the first set and twice in the second to complete the rout in an hour and 17 minutes.

This will be Albot’s first semifinal appearance since his run to the final four in Singapore in 2021. Can he reach a second Delray Beach final with a win on Saturday?

Kecmanovic v Albot Prediction and Tip

Consistency has been the key to Kecmanovic’s recent success, which even saw him reach a career-high of no. 27 earlier this year. Albot on the other hand is looking dangerous and a seventh career top 20 win on Friday would have boosted his confidence further. Expect this contest to go the distance with the fourth seed edging past the Moldovan.
