Taylor Fritz v Mackenzie McDonald Head to Head
McDonald won their only tour-level meeting in Delray Beach in 2019, but they met thrice at lower level tournaments before with Fritz coming out on top on all three occasions.

Last week’s Dallas Open semifinalist Taylor Fritz has returned to another semifinal this week, defeating Adrian Mannarino in a last eight contest at the Delray Beach Open on Friday.
The top seed was made to work hard by the world no. 59 in the first set. Mannarino got an early break but the American drew level at 3-3. With no more breaks in the set it went into the tiebreak, which turned out to be a close affair.
Fritz saved a set point in the tiebreak before converting his fourth set point to take a 1-0 lead.
In the second set, the world no. 7 built a comfortable 5-2 lead following a double break, but the Frenchman was not going out without a fight. He won two in a row to make things interesting, but the top seed steadied himself and served out the match in the next game for a 7-6 (10-8), 6-4 victory.
Fritz had begun his campaign with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Emilio Gómez in the second round.
The two wins mean Fritz, who starred in the United States’ United Cup triumph, has improved his season record to 9-3. The 25-year-old will be playing in a first semifinal at Delray Beach with hopes of reaching a 10th final on the tour. He has four titles to his name, with three of them coming in 2022, when he won his first Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells, his first ATP 500 title in Tokyo and his second title in Eastbourne.

McDonald Rallies Past Mmoh
Mackenzie McDonald came back from a set down to beat Michael Mmoh on Friday and reach a second semifinal in Delray Beach.
McDonald traded an early break with the fellow American, but conceded a second break late in the opening set to fall 0-1 behind. Things didn’t start off well for the world no. 56 in the second set either with Mmoh breaking in the very first game. However, McDonald made a strong comeback by winning the last five games of the set in a row.
Carrying the momentum into the final set, McDonald broke first to lead 1-2, but lost three in a row to find himself 2-4 down. With his back to the wall, he fought back once again and not only got the break back but won four games in a row to win the contest 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
This was second consecutive three-set win for McDonald in the tournament. He had beaten Yoshihito Nishioka 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the round of 16 following a straight sets rout of Taro Daniel in the opener.
The American had earlier reached the semifinal in Delray Beach in 2019 and one of the players he beat during that run was his Saturday’s opponent. Can he beat Fritz again or will the top seed have the last laugh this time?
