Petra Kvitova v Yulia Putintseva Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and Kvitova has won both. Those two matches came in 2018 and 2019 though.

In what was expected to be a one-sided encounter right from the very start, Kvitova lived up to her top billing and took down the clay-court specialist Martina Trevisan with utmost ease.
Kvitova was on court for an hour and nine minutes in which she did lose her serve on two occasions but that wasn’t enough for her opponent to manage her own serving issues. In fact of the seven times she served in the match, Trevisan dropped her serve on six occasions to lose 6-2, 6-1.
That would be a slight relief for Kvitova though who seemed to have begun the season on a good note but has fallen a tad in more recent times.
She won her first four matches of the year but since then is 3-3 on win-loss which includes this victory over Trevisan.
Sure, some of those defeats have come to players of high quality but that would be no consolation for the world number 15, who will now hope to take that step further towards getting to the last eight stage Kvitova had managed last year.

Putintseva Edges Past Martic
There wasn’t too much to choose between these two players according to the bookmakers and two sets into the encounter it was only Petra Martic with a slight advantage of the momentum.
In the end, Putintseva found a way to get past Martic, winning in three sets and an hour and 49 minutes to seal her second round berth.
Both players dropped their serves three times apiece. The only difference was while Martic broke Putintseva all three times in the second set, the Kazakh’s breaks of her opponents were more evenly distributed.
Putintseva comes into her second round match having made it this far in two previous tournaments this season including the Abu Dhabi Open two weeks back. It was only in Hobart she also inched forward to the last eight stage but then again she wasn’t facing a player of the calibre of Kvitova in her second round encounter.
Kvitova v Putintseva Prediction and Tip
Kvitova a big favourite and should not have a lot of trouble getting past Putintseva but she would be vary of her opponent’s ability to stun top-10 and 20 players. Might want to look at the handicap market here.
