Felix Auger-Aliassime v Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Head to Head

Auger-Aliassime has won all three of his matches against Davidovich Fokina. Their first meeting was at a lower level tournament in Alicante in 2018. The next two meetings happened last year, both at the tour level and on both the occasions the Canadian came out on top. While he needed four sets to win at the Australian Open, he needed three in Rome.

Auger-Aliassime Rebounds to Win Opener

Felix Auger-Aliassime came back from a set down against Australia’s Jason Kubler to reach his second consecutive tour-level quarterfinal.

The Canadian had beaten Lorenzo Sonego and Gregoire Barrere to reach the last eight in Rotterdam last week. But he was stopped from progressing further by Daniil Medvedev.

Now into his second quarterfinal of the season, Auger-Aliassime will look to make the most of the opportunity and reach his first semifinal of the year. Last year, Auger Aliassime had won four titles from five finals and had reached the semifinal stage or better on eight occasions.

This year, the 22-year-old is off to a disappointing start. He fell in the first round of his season opener in Adelaide, made it only as far as the fourth round at the Australian Open and then suffered a quarterfinal defeat in Rotterdam, where he was the defending champion.

Having seen off Kubler in the second round on Wednesday, the second seed will look to build on the start. In his opening match of the tournament against the world no. 74 Kubler, Auger-Alliassime struck 15 aces and 39 winners. He also saved 4 of 5 break points and converted 3 of 6 to win the two-hour-and-17-minute match 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Davidovich Fokina Ousts Kwon

Seventh seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina scored consecutive straight set wins in the tournament to reach his second quarterfinal of the year.

The 23-year-old Spaniard, who had begun the tournament with a 6-4, 6-3 win over France’s Constant Lestienne, took an hour and 19 minutes to beat South Korea’s Soonwoo Kwon in round 2.

Davidovich Fokina saved all six of the break points he faced in the match and converted 3 of his 5 breaking chances to win the match 6-3, 6-2.

The world no. 31 had previously reached the last eight in his season opener in Adelaide-2. Since then he struggled to win consecutive matches, losing in the second rounds at the Australian Open and in Montpellier and in the first round in Rotterdam.

Davidovich Fokina, who reached his first Masters final in Monte0-Carlos last year, will be looking to reach his first semifinal since that run to the final last year.

Auger-Aliassime v Davidovich Fokina Prediction and Tip

Auger-Aliassime has been in good form for quite some time now. He may not have reached a semifinal in 2023 yet, but it’s very likely the Canadian will reach that stage with a win on Thursday. Auger-Aliassime is the better player in the match-up. He also has a superior head-to-head record and will look to remain perfect in the rivalry.
