Francisco Cerundolo v Bernabe Zapata Miralles Head to Head

There has been one previous meeting between these two players which came as recently as the previous week in Buenos Aires. Zapata Miralles had shocked Cerundolo in three sets to enter the semifinal.

Cerundolo Overcomes Slow Start to Defeat Carballes Baena

While Cerundolo was the favourite going into his first round match against Roberto Carballes Baena, he needed to overcome a first set deficit before coming through against the Spaniard.

Cerundolo was on court for two hours and 40 minutes before he managed to squeak past Carballes Baena 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

In a match filled with serving issues, there were eight breaks of serves with even Cerundolo dropping it three times. In turn, he broke his opponent five times in the match, including thrice in the final set.

Carballes Baena was a break up in the second set after having won the first but he went on to get broken four times after that over the next two sets. There was no looking back from there for Cerundolo who eased past his opponent.

This win follows a quarterfinal exit at the Buenos Aires Open last week, after having also not gotten past the second round in Cordoba before that. Can Cerundolo push on further in this tournament?

Zapata Miralles Continues Good Clay Form with Munar Win

Zapata Miralles was on court for an hour and 48 minutes as he carved out a straight set win over Jaume Munar in the first round of this competition.

Coming off a semifinal appearance last week at the Argentina Open where it needed Carlos Alcaraz to end his run, Zapata Miralles clinched this win 6-3, 7-5 to move further.

It wasn’t easy though. Especially not the serving.

Zapata Miralles faced six break-points in the entire match and lost his serve on five occasions. In turn he broke his opponent seven times, making it a total of 12 breaks of serves in the match from the 21 games played!

Now while Zapata Miralles had defeated Cerundolo last week, he will need to do a lot better with his serving if he wants to make it two in two – both, in this tournament and against his Argentine opponent.

Cerundolo v Zapata Miralles Prediction and Tip

Cerundolo hasn’t been himself and that’s where Zapata Miralles had taken advantage of his game. The Argentine continues to remain a favourite, 3/5 in this one but that is not to say Zapata Miralles won’t have a chance. Might win a set for starters.
