Caroline Garcia v Nuria Parrizas Diaz Head to Head

Garcia and Parrizas Diaz have never faced off before this in a competitive match.

Garcia Eases Past Juvan

While Garcia continues to remain a top-five player for the moment, she will soon have a truckload of points to defend and that is where she could have a few problems if she doesn’t start winning a lot more.

Which might be a touch unfair thing to say about a player who had an 11-5 win-loss record for the season coming into this one but we are talking of a player who is currently ranked fifth in the world. Garcia would have liked to win at least one tournament by now and do better than the fourth round exit at the Australian Open.

That being said, Garcia would also be glad with her hour and 18 minutes long workout against Kaja Juvan in the first round here.

She won 6-3, 6-4 in a clinical display of tennis where she faced just one break-point and broke her opponent twice in the encounter. A first serve winning statistic of 88% and 60% on her second serve said it all.

Can she continue in the same vein though through to the very end here?

Parrizas Diaz Wins against Wang

Xiyu Wang has had a woeful season so far and Parrizas Diaz looked to have taken full advantage of that in the first round of this competition. Because despite the match going into the third set, Parrizas Diaz kept her nose in front and carved out her sixth main draw win for the season to go with six defeats.

Parrizas Diaz claimed a place in the second round after remaining on court for two hours and 49 minutes before she won 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-4.

Withstanding nine aces from Wang, Parrizas Diaz was also broken six times in the encounter as opposed to the five she managed to get past her opponent’s serve. And yet, when it really mattered in the deciding set, she overcame successive breaks of serves to push it past her opponent in the 10th game.

Down a break of serve twice in the final set, Parrizas Diaz broke right back and with Wang serving at 4-5, she converted her second match-point to make it through.

Against the might of Garcia though, Parrizas Diaz will need to grab her opportunities or face early exit.

Garcia v Parrizas Diaz Prediction and Tip

Garcia is 1/5 to win this and 8/13 to do that in straight sets. If Garcia can replicate here what she did against Juvan, expect her to come through in two.
