Barbora Krejcikova v Dayana Yastremska Head to Head

It’s 1-1 between the two ladies; their last meeting took place in Dubai in 2022, where Yastremska trumped Krejcikova 6-3, 7-6(3).

Krejcikova in a Superb Form

Barbora Krejcikova enjoyed a great build-up to the 2023 BNP Paribas Open. Competing in WTA Dubai, she moved on to win her sixth singles title – and her biggest one to date – by beating a litany of big guns.

Starting with Irina-Camelia Begu, the 27-year-old dismissed Daria Kasatkina, Petra Kvitova, Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, and World No. 1 Iga Swiatek.

Having beaten four current top-10 stars on tour, the question now is if Barbora can keep up the same tempo in Palm Springs.

It is not an impossible task for the current World No. 16, given her experience and an astonishing 25 doubles titles – including the Australian Open 2023 with Katerina Siniakova. Moreover, Krejcikova herself is a former #2 on the singles circuit with her year-to-date tally being 11-4.

Yastremska Beats Bondar

Unlike Krejcikova who got a bye into round two, Yastremska had to work her way up with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Anna Bondar in round one. It was a decent performance from the Ukrainian, who maintained a 67% first-service win rate.

It has been a slow start for Dayana, who now finds herself ranked #142 on tour. She ended last season just outside the top 100 and the year before at the 99th spot.

She hasn’t won a singles title since the 2019 Strasbourg Open; since then, she has reached just two finals – the 2020 Adelaide International and the 2022 Lyon Open.

Yastremska is now 8-7 in 2023 with her highlights being second-round appearances in Hua Hin and Dubai. Most recently, she featured in the ATX Open in Austin where she fell to Anna-Lena Friedsam in the first round.

The last time she won successive main-draw matches in a WTA event was in Birmingham 2022, where she reached the quarterfinal.

Krejcikova v Yastremska Prediction and Tip

With Yastremska pegged at 7/2 to win, punters may want to consider this. Krejcikova, despite being in red-hot form, may succumb to the pressure of performance – as it has happened so many times in the past to numerous players.

That aside, the Czech remains the heavy favourite to win this one.
