Samantha Stosur v Madison Brengle Head to Head

The two ladies have met only thrice on the WTA Tour so far and Stosur has won all of those matches convincingly. They last met in Strasbourg in 2017, where the veteran Australian won 6-0, 6-1.

Stosur Seeking a Positive Run in Indian Wells

The 34-year-old Australian so far has had a very dull spell on the singles circuit and by all means, she will be hoping to change that in Indian Wells.

In the entire Australian Open series, Stosur won only match and that victory came in Sydney against Dominika Cibulkova. However, she had a considerable amount of success as a doubles player, having won the Australian Open doubles title with Zhang Shuai.

Stosur’s last tournament on the tour prior to coming to Indian Wells was in Doha, where she cleared the qualifying rounds but lost her opening match to the Czech qualifier Karolina Muchova. While the Australian is a good player, she is well-known for her stints on the doubles circuit.

Nonetheless, she has a Grand Slam to her name – the 2011 US Open that she won after defeating Serena Williams in the final. With that, she has also won eight other singles titles.

Brengle’s Uneventful Start

Madison Brengle, who is currently ranked just four places shy of the 100th position, hasn’t had the best of start to the year. In a bid to build some momentum, she switched to lower-tier tournaments – most notably the 125K Series and ITF events.

However, she didn’t have much luck in either. In Auckland and Hobart, she never made it past the initial rounds while in the Australian Open, she lost to Karolina Pliskova in the second round. Brengle then played in an ITF event in Midland where she reached the quarterfinals, only to lose to Catherine Mcnally.

Her last event was the 125K Series event in Indian Wells, where she was knocked out by Jennifer Brady in the second round.

Samantha Stosur v Madison Brengle Tips & Predictions

Stosur presently leads Brengle by 3-0 and can very well defeat the American one more time. Despite a lack of form here, Stosur still has the much-needed winning experience to move to the next round.

Tip: Stosur to win here: 8/11 (betway)
