Barbora Krejcikova v Xinyu Wang Head to Head

There has been one previous meeting between these two and Krejcikova won that in Prague in 2021 in two easy sets.

Krejcikova Cruises Past Yastremska

In what was her seventh win on a trot, Krejcikova routed Dayana Yastremska in the second round to get closer to emulating her best ever performance at this tournament. She had made the fourth round in Indian Wells last season.

Krejcikova, who was coming off an awe-inspiring WTA Dubai title victory which included wins over the who’s who of women’s tennis – Petra Kvitova, Jessica Pegula, Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek – continued with her good form here.

Following a first round bye, the Czech registered a 6-1, 6-2 win over Yastremska to make it forward. The match lasted a mere 70 minutes.

The 16th seed did lose her serve on two occasions though, both of which came in the second set. Fortunately for her, both those came after she had already gone a break ahead in the set.

She looks quite good to make it eight in eight now.

Wang Shocks Alexandrova and How

Ekaterina Alexandrova is ranked 18th in the world and as a result was 2/5 odds to brush Wang aside and take her appointed place in the third round. The brushing aside did happen but not exactly the way Alexandrova would have liked.

Instead it was Wang who dished out a straight-set rout of her Russian opponent, winning 6-2, 6-3 in their second round match. The match went on for an hour and 17 minutes.

Having shocked Elise Mertens packing in the first round as well, Wang broke her opponent early in the second round and added a second to take the lead. Much like that in the second set, Wang was two breaks up before Alexandrova finally managed to get one past her Chinese opponent.

It wasn’t enough though was Wang came through by holding on at 5-3.

Can she now make it three in three?

Krejcikova v Wang Prediction and Tip

While Wang’s performances in this tournament make her one to watch, Krejcikova looks like she has re-attained the kind of form that had made her a world number two at one point. Backing her to come through here.
